A brief flavour of the channel in question.
"Bill Winston's vision is to take the uncompromised Word of God to the world, training believer's [sic] to have dominion and reign over this world's system."
"The Lord bless you for being a part of the ministry of GOD TV, thank you for assisting us in our God-given mandate to reach a billion souls for Jesus Christ."
"Our vision is to recognise, source, create, package and present world class anointed, prophetic, supernatural content in a spirit of excellence across the globe into every nation, reconciling man, woman and child with God by the power of the Holy Spirit."
"In an extraordinary miracle of God's supernatural provision, GOD TV's budget for the 2004 financial year has been met in full. This follows GOD TV's most exciting Missions Week to date, which ended on Sunday 26 April with a total £4,003,246 pledged by GOD Channel viewers around the world.
With an annual budget of £11.5 million, including £ 7.5 million already projected through sponsored programming, advertising and monthly partnership, Missions Week started off on Friday 16 April with a target of £ 4 million, and GOD TV founders, Rory & Wendy Alec standing in faith that this figure would be raised during the following 10 days.
Due to this amazing financial miracle, Missions Week live from Washington DC, ended its live programming on Sunday 25 April with its full budget met by the ministry's partners. This phenomenal financial backing provides the resourcing the ministry needs for 2004 in its quest to fulfil its divine mandate of winning a billion souls for Jesus Christ… "
Of course I have nothing against personal religious belief but to talk of 'divine mandate' and 'winning souls' seems a touch arrogant and, given this is a commercial TV channel, cynical and mercenary. Is it really a charity or merely a predatory exercise in relieving the gullible and downtrodden of their money?
I would be most relieved to stand corrected by someone who knows more about their operations and possible charitable activities.
