Cityindex 1 point spread on the Dow

Used them today when market was moving quickly 2 trades rejected as market had moved in my favour (was able to get a better price) which I was very impressed with.

There was also a delay in updating the balance of my account which they explained to me when I called was due to some problems they had and would be updated shortly which it was.

So happy overall ok get the impression the software is probably not as good as say cmc but 1 point dow spread is cheap!!!!

No problems today, even when the markets were spiking all over the place. It's surprising that no other SBs have matched the 1pt offer (or that City Index hasn't gone back to a 2pt spread).
I think the software is far better than CMC's, too!

Sounds really good, I had problems with CS, a lot of "price no longer valid". Volatility has increased, if Cityindex is executing well under these market conditions, it will be worthwhile signing up with them.

Worth a try, especially as Fins have a £100 free margin offer at the moment.

Yes, very strange though that this offer only applies to UK citizens. Don't they know that Sweden is a part of EU?:)

And Swedish crime fiction (Wallander, Stieg Larsson) very popular here at the moment; a gesture of goodwill would have been appropriate :)

Do Cityindex still delivers good execution despite increased volatility on the indices?

Paddypower (LCG white label) now down to 2pt Dow spread.
Yes, Dealingdesk the same. I guess they have to fall in line in order to compete. Still they don't beat Cityindex with their 1 point spread. I wonder how long they will be able to keep it at 1 point spread though?

Been wondering that for a month or so. You'd think that they'd have worked out by now whether it was cost-effective overall? That said, 1pt spread would be useless if you were given constant rejections and re-quotes, but the platform is still fine. LCG, IG and CMC (in particular) should be worried.

Yes been using city index for dow trades and it is very impressive with very few quote rejects.

The site has been really stable of late too.

Hardly use cmc now.

Thanks for the report. Cityindex is still keeping their promise on keeping the Dow on a stable 1 point spread. I haven't joined them yet but if these good reports keeps coming in I will for sure do so in the near future. The only thing is, they don't have a important platform feature of a user predefine stop loss, which is something you expect to find in a modern day trading platform.

They had a few problems this week, but for trading smaller stakes on Dow I can't see why you'd use any other SB. Does anyone know at what level trades stop going through automatically, or does it depend on win rate before an account gets flagged?

Off hours Cityindex do not offer a good deal, but when it comes to open hours Cityindex has about the same spread, at least on the indices I am trading. FTSE, DAX, S&P and the Dow (best spread in the industry).

They still have 8 points spread on Brent Crude, and I think they have bigger spreads on shares... need to double check.

PS: FinSpreads are just CityIndex... no difference whatsoever.

Anyone with a report (live trading) on how well they are executing on the Dow?

Still very good on small stakes, although it probably gets worse if you're trading over about £10 per point. Surprise the rest haven't matched it by now.
