BT-Yahoo Anti-Spy

As part of my BT broadband subscription yesterday I installed and loaded the BT-Yahoo anti-spy software.

Despite having both MS Antispyware and Spybot on my machine for some time, which I regularly update, the BT software found spyware on my system which I was unaware of. Has anyone else installed the BT-Yahoo anti-spyware?

It is remarkable that there is no one piece of software which will ensnare all spyware. A bit like having a leaky tap, but having to employ several plumbers to fix it....

It is VERY frustrating, isnt it ?

I run Spybot AND MS AntiSpyware AND Ad-Aware regularly. ( have pop-up blockers as well )
Each seems to be good at finding different types.

Do you rate BT-Yahoo then ?

Yes, I was very impressed with it. The complete scan took about 3mins...compared to the much longer scans needed for MS and Spybot.

Can check for updates easily, and it does not need to sit in your system tray consuming yet more RAM....

I see no reference to the "BT" bit.

And I have Webroot Spy Sweeper as well as the MS one, adaware, spybot and they all find different things.. and I also go to mcafee and pandasoftware websites for a free virus/spyware check as well!!

Well I have PestPatrol, Spyware Blaster and AdAware for spyware, with NOD32 for AV.

Whenever I run PP or AdAware, they rarely find anything. This is no doubt due to Spyware Blaster and Pest Patrol, both of which have active elements that prevent installation of some spyware.

I also use Firefox rather than IE, which also helps, although I still have IE for some sites, where FF doesn't work as well.

Yes rossored, Firefox far superior! And blocks a lot of rubbish as well

I use the Deepnet browser instead of IE or Firefox........in my experience by far the best browser

Spybot will also block the Hosts File.
