Best Demo Account Provider? Please help.

Hello All,

Great to join the site. After reading several threads I have decided to enter the trading arena responsibly.

I’m hoping to see some opinions on which demo account provider would be most suitable and useful for a person getting started in trading. Also, what material (books, etc.) should I familiarize myself with to learn the basics and “must knows” of trading.

My aim is to trade on a demo account until I develop comfort, open up a small account with my own capital that I can afford to lose, and then potentially look into a career in trading.

For the demo accounts there are infinite options, it is only a matter of knowing first which instrument/s you would like to trade, and look for a broker that offers you those for demoing, and that allows you a unlimited time demo account, to save you some time wasting creating new demo accounts every certain time, blah, blah, blah.... you can trade Forex, Commodities, Futures, Spread bet, etc, etc... and you also will have some different platforms to chose between...
I personally like MT4 for charting as it is quite instinctive and easy to use, so I can advise you to take a look to FxPro (Forex Trading | Online Currency Trading Broker | Foreign Exchange Market | FxPro.com), or Brocco (Broco Company - Online Forex Trading, Online Futures Trading, Stock Indexes Trading, Forex Currency Trading System. FX Trading (Foreign Exchange Trading).) brokers.... they will offer you unlimited demos and they offer tons of different markets, so they are ok for demoing (I'm not that sure about real trading...anyways)

About your "plan of action", I think it is very sensible... I would recommend you if I can thoug,h that you demo the less time possible and start to real trading as soon as you got your trading plan/strat clear, even when you bet 10p each trade....there is a vast difference between demoing and real trading, as mentality is a huge % in this business....

Firstly we have MT4 which is also available for the Mac. This will help you get up to speed and is one of the most popular platforms to use.

For beginners, I don't think you can beat the straightforward user-friendliness of the London Capital Group trading platforms like Capital Spreads, InterTrader and Financial Spreads, or possibly ETX Capital. Some trading platform providers have overly complex and customizable web interfaces that make it look at lot more difficult than it really is. A demo account is no substitute for learning with a small amount of real money, but if you think you can afford to lose a particular amount of money... you will! Good luck.

Consider ProRealtime (IT Finance) for papertrading with realtime (or delayed) charts.

It does cost you a monthly fee, but it is the same user interface as you can get on IG Markets and many other (regular) brokers.
