Backtest Problem

Hey everyone,

Have a little problem on backtesting, I've been dling the data from alpari UK and then importing them into my charts then doing a period convertor before I back test. However I keep getting the mismatch error, where it says my D1 and M1 data don't match. And oddly enough whenever I check my D1 data, there seems to be extra data that I didn't convert or import in. No idea why this is happening, I've repeated the process multiple times and it still seems to happen. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Back up your D1 data, get rid of it and then re-create it from your M1 data using the Period-Convertor script.

By getting rid of it, do you mean just deleting it via the history center window? cause if so i've tried that and it still has that problem.

yea. i deleted it then re-created it from M1 data with the period-convertor. the odd thing is it seems that new data pops up. for example:
1. deleted all D1 data.
2. M1 data contains 2004 - 2009 EURUSD (imported from alpari files)
3. covert it to get D1 data 2004 - 2009 EURUSD.
4. then i have to reopen my MT4 for changes to occur.
5. and when i run EA tester it says mismatch error in journal
6. so i call up the offline charts and somehow i'd get data from 2001 - 2009 on EURUSD. (and since i didn't import it or convert it i have no idea where this is from)

Thanks for the help cloudbreaker. appreciate it a lot, since this is causing me a bit of problem in backtesting my EAs.

I'd advise you to to create a separate instance of the Metatrader platform and ensure that it is offline and remains empty of all data prior to and after your import.

Here's a link with the procedure:
