It is most likely 80% of breakouts fail ,trends are only visible in hindsight , after the breakouts , the ones that materialized are trends .Only the pros talk about 80% failing , the rest live in beliefs of most trends materializing , until they attempt to trade them , that is why we have 95% club of failures.
Most traders can't handle it the psychological part , when 80 % of them fail and lose money.The clever trend trading educators made a lot of money , it is the easiest money to be made , rather than trade the psychological demons.
This type of trading , as in this thread , requires a unique long term trading (patience mindset ) , instead of the impatient impulsive short term trading.Unfortunately short term trading , with market timing , trend failures and trend trading is recipe for disasters , when combined with the psyche.
