Just thought I'd start a thread for the beat the broker competition that starts Monday on ETX Capital.

I'm entering for lulz, my name on there is oopslostagain. Keep an eye out for me, somewhere down near the bottom of the league table I expect :D :LOL:

Anyone else entering? just post your username to this thread so that we know who you are and can see how your doing. Should create some good banter and fun for the week.

I'm up for it! My username is UKtradergirl - the same as here.

As this is a game i think a different strategy than my usual one is called for. I think i'll be much more agressive, risk much more capital, on the chance that i may hit a great trade (or get wiped out hehe). Either way i see they reset it every day so there is 5 chances :).

Might give it a whack, but more for fun/loss of dignity, then the prizes.

Daily prizes aren't too impressive:
1st position - iPod Touch,
2nd Position - Digital Camera,
3rd Position - a bottle of Dom Perignon,
4th and 5th Position - a bottle of wine; Saint Emilion Grand Cru (2004).

And don't like the chances of getting the 20k.

Username is Hotchbaby, won't be able to do much so doubt i'll do any good, but should end up positive .

First impressions?

Not impressed. Hope that screen changes from grey writing on a black background to something I can actually see. And no charts? That's a recipe for disaster!

You can look for me at the bottom because I will be supporting LMQ again. (Holding him up). (He needs to feel good by beating someone, and I did promise his mum). Looks like I have another 2 reprobates to support now as well. :innocent:

My tactics will be buying and selling Lloyds bank on every up and down bar from a 1 sec chart at a ten thousand a point. Playing it safe me. Got this well sussed!:cry:

Just re read that classic trading book about the hare and the tortoise and am trying to find me plimsolls from the bottom of the wardrobe. (Pretty sure me white headband is in there somewhere as well.)

Might even start doing some training to get in shape. One finger press ups (using both hands) for a count of one. Assuming I can get my chest off the floor.

If not, I'll say **** it and go down the pub. :whistling

LMQ you might want to post a link to the comp, 'cause quite frankly their web site navigation sucks.

(Whoops! if there are 5000 people in this, that make's sure I come in at 5,001 th place!
 
Also, just a slight gripe here. But the main prize is from a draw of all the winners during the week?

How screwed up is that?

So someone could make 20 mill and the top prize of the comp goes to someone who beat the brokers best profit of 10 grand by one pound?

Of course I am not saying that the 'broker' will only make 10grand on a day, but you get my drift.
 
:LOL: no pleasing some people, its just some fun for those that wish to see if they can get their name on a leader board. Our own comps here are a bit defunct as you know, I had to look further out there, see what was about and found this one, any better suggestions would be welcome though :D

No, none at all at the moment. The uk scene for comps is a very scarce affair because of uk regs. and empathy. (No one gives a ****).

(Which is a worldwide pandemic, sad to say).

As the norm I will probably forget that the comp is running during the week in any case.

(No dig at you though LMQ. Your input and enthusiasm on the site is to be commended. (Your mum told me to say that). :eek:

I joined already but maybe i am not eligable to the prizes ....
 
How I read it is you need a uk passport, resident address in gb and a uk bank account.
If you have all those you should be fine.

Hope so anyway I signed up from here, but I am uk resident.
 
Looking through their system it seems that you can only trade max of 100 a point.

Not sure if you can pyramid.
 
Ok, just been playing with that platform a we bit, I need to test my theories out tomorrow but there's a small possibility I've found an interesting bug :)
