YM-ES, Currencies Spread Ratios

Hello.

Does anyone know what the "proper" ratio is for trading Dow to S&P minis?

Further, can someone give some general rule of thumbs for figuring out spread ratios? I am also looking to spread currencies, such as the Canadian vs. Australian dollar.
