What's the problem - I don't see it???
The total inability to administer large computerised systems.
The fact that any mistake (which would happen) would take months to be addressed
A perfect singular target for hackers which would get in and cause chaos
Paul
I think you jest, sir
I'm surprised with this response coming from you Paul... I thought you were really into the technology revolution...
How is it that aeroplanes, traffic lights, radar - in fact financial systems turning billions work fine and payrol should not.
70m records all linked with a NI number is certainly doable. Unlike the NHS records will not need to be maintained for a life time. Probably no longer than 7 years.
Hackers will always try and there will always be security. No different to online bank systems.
Administering the system will be much easier than what it is now... Think of all the employers / employees and tax returns and coding that has to be done and the mail that goes to and fro... Current system is an administrative headache with mass delays.
It will be better - faster and less costly. Get rid of illegal immigrants too.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC IDEA
I just hope we don't have a power cut... :cheesy:
Not at all. I am serious. I have always felt we need to raise taxation in the UK.
To pay for services and ease off pressure on inflation to maintain low interest rates by reducing aggregate demand. Regular bloggers will know my view point.
This premise of reducing taxation is a waste of time. We have hidden cultivated tax which hits the poor and lets off the rich who can afford to avoid it. Legalised evasion with off-shore accounts.
what services?
filthy hospitals?
schools in disrepair?
tube strikes?
soaring crime rates?
privatisation is the answer i tell you. sack all the jobs worth civil servants who live by their health & safety code. they can reapply for their old jobs in the private sector if they wish, but i guess they wouldnt last 5 minutes in an organisation that is driven by profit rather than idleness and strikes if they cant get their selfish greedy way.
:idea::clap:
Lord Turner trying to save his bacon...
Financial crisis 'not due to bonuses alone'
This is the stinking elite of the country who like to **** things up and then blame the unions for asking for a fair wage...
Paradox of life...

sorry, but thats b0ll0x!
the papers are full with stories on how hmrc managed to under tax half the population and are now going to demand it back!
imagine the state of the economy when some typical low life civil 'i dont give a sh1t because ive got a job for life' servant screws up the system and no one gets paid because the software took out too much tax. meanwhile, that very same low life civil servant decides to take 3 weeks off sick, because he cant handle the stress of clearing up his mess.
i dont like civil servants very much as you can tell. nurses & firemen are ok, but the office civil servant in the monolith of government are worse than dole scroungers in my opinion. they take more money, dont do a good job, strike, lazy, etc.
just thought id let you know that.
Look mate, views like this really **** me off. Well, to be honest it's not your view specifically, but that you don't seem to have the feintest idea of what it is to implement intelligent argument.
Albeit, your view exaccerbates matters.
If you give a guy a job that is rewarded by the number of mortgages he sells, then he is going to sell mortgages to anyone who will buy them. Human nature.
If you give someone a cushy office job, with little threat of losing it, then they are increasingly going to do less and less until they reach the minimum level of output that will keep them the job. Human nature.
To say that one side of the fence is better or worse than the other is just plain lunacy. Really, you embarass yourself by touting such a position. What the **** is Bob Crow, eh? A well rounded individual?
And you can VOTE!?
