Which is the most reliable Indicator for Trading Ranges or no Trending Markets? and Why?

I ask this question beacuse Im looking for an Indicator, everyone has different opinions and I would like to hear them.

Since the market is not same at all the times, sometimes its in uptrend, or downtrend or in a sideways market. Therefore accordingly you have to use the technical indicators in your R&D. I am looking at RSI with volume and candlestick for safe trading. other times i use other indicators for BTST calls and long term call.

sounds simplistic, but you really need to be able to tell at a glance, imho
