Well hello there,
i am new to Forex, fundamental analysis & to this forum too
anyways forgive me if this is not correct section to ask this q, but i figured out it is.
I am focusing on EURUSD to gain some experience. i've ok experience of TA, but not of Fundamental. so i said myself, lets try. (it seems imp here in forex in perticular)
now i was watching the economic calendar on forexpros.com. there was this upcoming event of US retail sale MOM. i read some of the details, to get some knowledge abt it.

well the figure came was more than expected, so $ was suppose to be strong. also the German ZEW data was lower than expected early that day (14sep), so i was over all bearish on EURUSD. but after a hour, the retail sales nos came out for US, the EURUSD went like rocket at 14:00 GMT.
all i want to know how after two bearish events for EURUSD, it went up? i know these two events just represents probability & not certainty. But considering the normal case (AFAIK in case of stocks market), when u get the fundamental nos, the market normally act as per the nos impact.

The Retail Sales is a monthly measurement of all goods sold by retailers based on a sampling of retail stores of different types and sizes in the US. It is an important indicator of consumer spending and also correlated to consumer confidence and considered as a pace indicator of the US economy .
A higher than expected reading should be taken as positive/bullish for the USD, while a lower than expected reading should be taken as negative/bearish for the USD.
