Hi all

This is a question for those who are trading UK shares via an ISA. Could you advise which providers you use for your set up i.e. broker, software/chart packages, news service etc. I would just like to get a feel for what people are using.

I employ an end of day strategy so I am using Sharescope and trade via Selftrade for equities.

Thanks. Indeed it is free but has no volume. I've subscribed to Sharescope who seem to cover what I need. As an aside, does anyone actually know if any of the traders on these boards are profitable?

I use Sharescope for research as it is very useful for data mining at end of day, also it has level 2 for an extra fee.
ADVFN I find essential, for the low end subscription you get live equity prices, very good charts (imo) and a wealth of useful research info (Toplists as an example) also it jhas streaming news etc

Digillook is a great free website for company info and fundamentals

InvestEgate is another good site for News

I also spread bet with IGmarkets, very good free charting software

For my ISA I use hargreaves Lansdowne, very good if you are a long term investor and want to invest in funds and good investment advice, however they are not cheap and as i only self select I am now moving my ISA to interactive investor which is £10 per trade and no fees as Aposed to £29.95 for over £3000 trade with HL

Excellent. Some good responses here.

Sharescope has an excellent new highs button which if you press you get a list of, well, new highs. i used to subscribe to advfn for the toplists but the new high function in Sharescope is an excellent replacement.

I also use IG index for spread betting and specialise in UK equities. The other websites mentioned such as digital look etc I also use for some good fundamental research as well as ADVFN. Not sure if I mentioned this earlier in the thread but I use the 1% rule and try to have a minimum of 10 open positions at any one time. If I find a new opportunity, I simply close my biggest loser and open a new position.

Missed Uk coal even though I had it on a watchlist, bugger!

Hi tafita, why don’t you set up an alert in your software to email you or text you when a stock on your watchlist gets to a certain price. ADVFN does email alerts, so I imagine a pricey data service like sharescope does too?
