I have a full time job (not connected with trading).

Can I please have some views what stocks or indices are best to trade in the evenings. I am interested in stocks/indices that are not super fast moving, but are volatile enough to hopefully make money over a two hour time slot.

Also can someone please advise GMT closing times of DAX and Dow Jones?

Many thanks,

Glynn

Sorry, I don't trade US stocks, but.......
Have you considered the forex markets? Open 24 hours!

Dow closes at 2100 gmt, you can also trade the S&P500, Russell2000 and the Nasdaq100, all american and fairly good spreads.

Indices are tradeable 24/7 at CMC, including euro stocks if you wish, they still move considerably with the us markets, all be it with larger spreads. FX is a good market, especially the EURUSD.

I have a full-time job and would echo the suggestion that you try trading the Forex market. I do my analysis in the evenings and trade off of the 4 hour and daily charts. However, if you want to trade a shorter timeframe (as it sounds like you do), you could trade the second half of the US session after work, since you are in the UK.

Good trading to you,

Jon

I trade the ES contract (E-mini S&P) and it is very liquid during cash market hours UK 14:30-21:15

Dow has been pretty lively in the last few weeks from around 7pm till 9pm with some good opportunities for profit. I have seen it move 100 points often. Read a piece somewhere yesterday that said by April we could see the ftse hit 3000 as the real low. As a trader thats great but for the country its not. If the FTSE does this then the DOW will have similar movements and volatility.
