Well with all the talk of GBPUSD experiencing smaller moves in recent months/years, the long-term future of forex trading doesn't look superb, when you also consider -

Any possibility of USD CAN & MXN being replaced by the Amero  .

Also, how long will it be until this labour government abandons the £ & opts for the Euro  .

Then what if they merge all currencies into a single world currency :devilish:

And let's not forget the inevitable entry of Chinese traders in to forex. It probably won't happen in a meaningful fashion until their currency is floated, and of course until their stock market stops running up seemingly non-stop, but it will happen eventually. Anyone want to posit a theory as to what impact literally millions of new Chinese forex traders will have on the market?

Well, cable is 1 day away from being removed from my watchlist. Make more trading VOD at this rate :devilish:

cable

some stats... in case anyone is interested...

just proved my wife the efficency of men: pack a suitcase in 10 minutes.

2001 doesn't look great and I'll do 02/03 over the weekend and so we have from 2001 onwards.. its not all downhill this century, it could come back. maybe.

That long?!!?!

when i see diminishing ranges, my central banking experience makes me suspicious that somebody there is playing with volatility........not the level of the rate, but the volatility:idea:

go on......

go on......

well, im obvioulsly thinking of BOE in this case, and how the exchange rate, and particularly its volatility can feed (positively or negatively) into inflation. on the other hand, an appreciation of the exchange rate of a certain %, equates to monetary stiffening, etc. but let me have a second think. it could simply be a stupid thought of mine.

Keep in mind that we have been in a very low (by historical standards) interest rate environment for quite some time now. That most certainly has contributed to lower volatility, and not just in forex. It's been the same for equities as well.

Shouldn't very low interest rates mean that for equities at least should be experiencing greater participation, as investors can't get a decent return from the banks through interest payments?

Given the uptrend in the markets for the last several year, I would argue they've had pretty good participation.

But you refer to retail traders, don't you?

My feeling is that a lot of the folks who got shaken out during the bear market have not returned. Part of it is the blossuming of retail forex trading. I'm sure part of it is the increasing popularity of ETFs and other vehicles. But a big part is also that these folks were burned and are shy about getting back in to stocks. After the crash in 1987 it took about 10 years for the individual investor to get excited about stocks again.

The Future of stock market will be bright. At present, mostly traders are switching to the forex trading in order to get high level of returns. In Future, Forex market will bring many opportunities for the traders.

Yeah...! Though too may traders loses here, it has always been a center of attraction for the traders and it will always be. Forex Trading has a good and bright future.
