Yeah its not new information but well explained. Australian ASIC is a decent regulator and it provides some protection to its clients but we have to be extremely cautious when choosing offshore broker. Thankfully there are some reputable names with the industry which long operation history is a safety feature in itself.

h...m only decent.. many think of it of being a "Toothless watchdog":LOL:
"renting" of Australian Financial Services Licence is legit and many questionable operators who would not qualify for a AFSL on their own are entering the market
Client money safety for NON Equity brokers a/c remains a big issue yet

And that's why I'm trying to find a reliable broker that I can use. If I'm in the US, any recommendations?

you have very scarce number of options as only two or three brokers are allowed to offer their services in the US. No advantages that offer offshore brokers thanks to US restrictions.
