Re-education of a not-yet-profitable trader

I have been keeping my personal trading journals since late 2002, when I ventured into fulltime trading for a living after I got laid off from a high paying IT job. My trading has been improving with time, but still has not been consistently profitable.

I decided to keep a journal on this board, to begin sharing my thoughts and my self re-education process, I am hoping that others with experience similar to mine would join in for experience sharing and discussion. My goal is simple: Trade to win! -- To become a consistently profitable disciplined trader, so that I can realize my life's ultimate goal: trading for a superb living.

Re-education of a not-yet-profitable trader [Day 1

Since I came from the IT background, I use online trading and have been actively participating in online communities like this board and ther realtime chat sites. One thing I discovered is that there are many people in these online communities who share the simular background like mine: strong IT/Technical background (many are IT managers, developers, programmers, and many are engineers), smart, logical, analystical, had a successful career in technical fields, many are also extremely creative, but most of us are not able to simply copy our success from the technical career and transform them into trading success (if you are succesfful, congratulations! I want to learn from you). Why?

We must have share something in common that made us successful in what we were doing (in IT, in technical fields), and we must have also share somethings in common, that were preventing us from doing the same in trading. I would like to hear your experience! What made you effective in successful in what you did before? what do you believe are your weaknesses, or the negative qualities, that you believe are causing you to not being able to duplicate your past success in the trading game?
