Hello Traders,

I have been trading for 7-8 years, primarily focusing on XAU/USD scalping. I use EMA for trend analysis, ATR, Bookmap basics, and incorporate basic risk management techniques into my trading.

I recently moved to the UK and want to start a career as a professional forex trader, ideally in a proprietary trading firm or hedge fund.

My Background:

  • B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from India
  • 7-8 years of trading experience, including crypto (BTC/USDT), options, and forex (XAU/USD scalping)
  • Strong foundation in technical analysis, price action, and trading psychology
  • Currently using MT5 and Exness

What I Need Help With:

  1. Job in a Prop Trading Firm: Should I join a short-term trading course before applying for a junior trader position, or should I first gain experience in a prop firm and then pursue further education?
  2. Proprietary Firm Requirements: What skills and certifications do prop firms look for in junior traders?
  3. Certifications: I am pursuing IMC, CMT, and FCA certifications. Will these help in securing a prop firm job?
  4. Algorithmic Trading Courses: Should I consider joining an algorithmic trading course at this stage, or is it better to first gain practical experience in a prop firm before diving into algo trading?
  5. Direct Entry into Trading Jobs: Given my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, can I directly join any trading job in a prop firm or institutional trading environment without needing additional qualifications?
Any insights from experienced traders or those who have worked in prop firms would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
