RSS Feed

We have installed an experimental RSS feed for the T2W Forums.

It can be accessed here:

http://www.trade2win.com/boards/external.php?type=rss

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and is a way to keep updated automatically on what's new at websites that offer it. If you're new to RSS, you can read an introduction on the BBC website here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/help/3223484.stm

You'll need a piece of software called an RSS Aggregator to view the feed, much like you use a browser to view the web. There are lots of free ones to choose between, the particular one I use is SharpReader: http://www.sharpreader.net/

So far T2W was the most responsive among all forums I visit regularly regarding to put RSS in place. Good job.
Now is there a way to have different feeds for different categories?

Glad to hear that!

At the moment there isn't a way to have different feeds for different categories. If there was sufficient demand for it, we could probably set this up - and any other tweaks to the existing feeds members wanted.

For anyone who missed the subsequent announcement regarding the RSS feed, this has now been updated so that you can select certain forums instead of getting all of them.

RSS2 Feed (Now includes part of the first post of a new thread):

Subscribe to certain forums ONLY (If you only want to see new threads in a list of certain forums):
http://www.trade2win.com/boards/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=16,6

NB how each forum is separate by a comma, and you can either use type=rss2 or type=rss for the older version of rss (no post previews).

We've upgraded our RSS feed so that it displays the latest posts rather than simply the latest threads. We've also added quick link buttons to our RSS feeds on the forum home page here: www.trade2win.com/boards and next to the new posts link in the header. So you can quickly subscribe to your favourite forums (automatically includes subforums) or new posts across all forums.

PLEASE NOTE: The RSS feeds are set up to update with the latest posts. Currently a preview of the first post in the thread is always displayed as part of the RSS feed and NOT the latest post in the thread. But if you click through from the RSS feed it takes you to the latest post in the thread. If it makes more sense to show the latest post preview (I think it probably does), then we'll look to upgrade this too.

- ALSO: If you manually put in more than one forumid to the url of the rss feed, then it won't automatically include subforums - you'll have to add these to your list of forumids, separated by commas.

If you prefer to see the latest threads rather than the latest posts, then simply remove "&items=active" from the url of the rss feed quicklinks. As always your feedback is appreciated, so let us know how you think the default set-up on the RSS feeds should be. Or simply, if you have no idea what I'm taking about! (Pls read the first post of this thread).
