Q - should I sell now?

Hi.

I'm Scott. I know almost nothing - in fact to all intents and purposes - nothing about trading. However, I find myself in this situation...

A small amount of shares that have been held in trust for me have been released to my control as I'm currently seeking to raise some funds for a new business venture.

Q - should I sell now? I'm aware of the general downward trend of the market and also of the shares I have in Alliance Trust. I could possibly wait for a short period (1 month) if this were to make any positive difference to the share price. But is this likely?

I'm know I'm asking the $million question but any rough guide would be useful. I've been scouring the internet for any kind of forecasts but haven't had much luck - any pointers appreciated.

Bye for now,

Scott

You haven't provided enough information for anyone to make a reasonable judgement.
The trouble with public BBs is that there are only a few people who actually know what they are talking about and a lot of airheads. The latter can sometimes sound convincing if your own knowledge and experience base is weak.
Also nobody can tell the future, only probabilities.
Your best option is probably to seek advice from your solicitor, accountant or financial advisor.
They won't know much either...

Welcome to t2w :)

If you need the money now, just sell them. It could get better... or it could get much worse.

Richard's right. I'm one of the airheads...

However, looking at the technicals, it looks lie ATST has topped.

Agree with SN - exit - pronto.

Hi.

Thanks to all for your advice.

http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=charts&symbol=L^ATST&period=1&freq=0

Looking at this chart it seems that the ATST stock is finding support at around the 315-320 mark, i.e., where it currently sits. If it makes ground up to say the high 330s' or early 340s,as it has seemingly each month this year, then it would make sense to hold off from selling until it has covered this ground, no?

In short, am I reading this chart correctly and how reliably can this be used to indicate short term future movement?

In response to points made...

1. Absolutely, I appreciate that no-one has a crystal ball!

2. Richard, you mention that I haven't supplied enough information - what information is required and I shall do my best to provide?

3. What's a "public BB"?

4. TheBramble - I'd really love to understand "the technicals" that suggest ATST has "topped" - any chance of a precis?

So, once again - MANY, MANY THANKS! - for your time and advice.

Have a great day,

Scottie.
