Hi All,

I'm searching for the following and wondered if anyone knows if such a thing exists???

I'm looking for a trading, charting and scanner platform which will allow you to paper trade using real data but not real time so you could for example practise with a real time feel over the weekend. I'm not averse to paying and am mainly interested in US stocks.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

D.

Have a look at pmccandless post in this thread .... if might be what you're after

here

Thanks Paulie, have checked it out (Thinkorswim) but you can only papertrade during regular hours :-(

Hi daz

I think what you mean is that you need to be able to back test stratagies most platforms offer this.

Tradestation, esignal etc. For one with free data try http://www.lionsfutures.com/
I have only just found them so I can't give a reccomendation, let me know what you think if you try them out.

Regards
Richard.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your comments but having used TS I don't think they do offer what I'm looking for (though I may be wrong).

I want to be able to fine tune trading skills out of regular hours and so would be looking for a playback of real time data (including the ability to scan) but at a time of my choosing. Not asking for much I know!

Not sure how you would incorporate the scan facility, doesn't back testing achieve this? With regards to real data playback, surely you load the relevant chart in the required time frame and then scroll back to a suitable starting point. Then click forward bar by bar as you read the chart, make your decision and see what then plays out. Of course this will exert the same problems as demo/paper trading versus real trading. Hey ho.

I gave up on TS and keep meaning to check out Lions.
