owndata and tradestation 8

I have been trying to get a chart drawn in tradestation using eod data in metatstock format without success

Have followed the video on own datas site and it goes through all the steps but at the last one instead of charting it comes up with another properties window which among other things asks for exchange but wont allow any data to be entered it is just highlighted blue

Has anyone succeded in getting a chart using UK eod data in metastock bizarre really because TS2000 reds it no probs

Any help would be appreciated

I have no problem with owndata on TS8.
I pull in EU data from esignal. If it is not working best to contact TSsupport more than likely you have a hooky copy that will not register. They are pretty canny with their security.

Not really quite the problem when I lived in Florida TS and e signal was perfect now I live in the UK and only trade uk stocks
most charts I do on an end of day basis for which I use bothe Metastock and advanced GET (both fully licenced copies !) I now only use Metastock and GET using MLdownloader on an end of day basis from yahoo and it works fine I now only trade uk stocks so switched my live feed to a uk firm UPDATA who supply live data with a ta package so I dropped e signal mainly on a cost basis I was lead to believe owndata would enable tradestation to be used on an ongoing basis purely with end of day data and no live subscription needed so I also dropped tradestation but do still have software UPDATA only have done work integrating with Bloomberg so I am stuck but if anyone knows the answer I would be interested most people want to sell their data feed which I dont need

Woodie - I have the exactly the same problem as you. I would be interested in the solution if you manage to finf one.

yoy can creat the file by opening a notepad and write this info :

Symbol,Date Format,Category,Exchange,Session 1 Start Time,Session 1 End Time,Session 1 Days,Price Scale,Minimum Movement,Big Point Value,Daily Limit 
DEFAULT,mm/dd/yyyy,Stock,URT,1000,1400,SUMTW,1/100,1,65000,10000

i use this with The Saudi Stocks , so you batter change some info " season start end ... etc" ...

after that save the file as "attributes.ini " and copy it inside the Metasock Data Folder.

anyway if u have any problem creating the file
you can download it from attachment.

don't forget to change file extension from txt to ini

there is another way to solve this problem if this not work with you ...

I failed to get saudi market data in tradestation 8.
I have Tradestation 8 with ownData 2.4;

when I use ownData Tradestation always give empty chart.
when I import metaStock files in tradestation directly using the method you sepcified, it keeps asking me for the exchange !

Any help is appreciated.

how did you get the data in I could never get it to work with 8.1 although did with tradestation 2000 i

what problems are you having with owndata

I used Tradestation 8.1 B3006 which supports EOD metaStock data.
you have to put attributes.ini in the MetaStock data folder that hosts MASTER file.
then you must modify attributes.ini to write the correct stock exchange information like wowrking days & times.

Ex.

Symbol,Date Format,Category,Exchange,Session 1 Start Time,Session 1 End Time,Session 1 Days,Price Scale,Minimum Movement,Big Point Value,Daily Limit 
DEFAULT,mm/dd/yyyy,Stock,URT,1000,1400,SUMTW,1/100,1,65000,10000

you have to midify files 5,6 and 7
field 5 == session start time ,, in the example above it is set to 10:00 AM
field 6 == session End time ,, in the example above it is set to 14:00(02:00PM)
field 7 == Trading days ,, in my region, the weekend is Thursday and Friday.

I'm trying to use it to make tradestation display intraday charts using metaStock data files. I followed all the steps explainted in TSsupport site but failed to get it work. The chart is always empry with only a message that says"Getting Symbol settings....".

-what version of owndata are you using ?
-Does tradestation draw intraday charts using metaStock intraday data ?
-when metaStock files are updated online do you have to refresh tradestation chart manually ?

You do not need owndata for metastock data as it can be read directly into ts8.3.
When you do a symbol lookup there is now a tab called "3rd party" it allows direct import of metastock data. I only use owndata for esignal data.

I am making some progress but not 100%, I was able to load the data into TS, then I right click on the blank chart screen and selected format symbol, from there I was able to locate my data folder, Ifor the prefix I entered MSDX and the data loaded,I am filing out the format symbol box but I am not able to enter the exchange name because it will not allow me so as a result I cannot continue with the download process, any help would be appreciated

does it read intraday data also ? or just EOD ?
