Interesting article in the Telegraph today (Sept. 16th) that the Osaka based Hanshin Tigers have won the national baseball league. The last time they did this (1985) it coincided with the beginning of the Japanese economic upturn.
Their economy (somewhat sluggish at present, but then, who's isn't!) could do with some good news.
The thing is, over the last few months there has been growing expectation by the Japanese folk in general that if the Tigers did win, it would signal an upturn to the economy.
Now, I'm definitely no economist, but I wonder if that's all it might take to get something going?
Maybe I've been reading too much into "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" - or maybe not enough...
Either way, be interesting to see what transpires.
