New to Trading - Seminars a good idea?

Hi, Iam new to trading and started to get very interested lately. Although I traded lightly years ago, it wasn't that much and fairly straight stocks. I finished a seminar today where they ask you to buy "professional" seminars for $10,000 and up. I don't have the money to do that and I dont trust everything they say after reading some reviews.

I did get some basic concepts however on stock trading and strategies. My questions is this? Where is the best place (web site) to go and get traning on these strategies and possibly apply them in simulation-type trades? Does something like this exist?

There is a mass of information on this site, so you don't need to spend even $1 to get information on trading and strategies. Look for the popular threads here to start with, especially those by TraderDante.

Just google trading simulation and you will find plenty, but take care. Some require payment, some are evaluations for a certain period and some will introduce viruses to your pc. If any ask for credit card details in advance for evaluation, don't touch them.

What you have to remember is that there are many styles of trading and strategies, so you will need to spend some time going through material, using google etc to start to sort out what is right for you. Also search for the Trading plan template on this site which goes through a number of questions to help you clarify your own personal trading strategy.

Well, seriously.

* spending that amount for seminars is crazy.
* that said, if you are a total newbie, a seminar may make sense. Not saying it does for all - some people just have problems getting started from books and prefer someone to guide them. Sure you will not learn successfull trading there, but if you are one of those who learn mostly by group experience etc., a seminar may be a goodway to get the basics in. But I would not pay more than a couple of hundred USD for that.
