Very impressive animation of the huge cyclone Yasi headed towards north eastern Australia:

Yasi is much bigger than, and just as intense as Larry in 2006 that caused a billion dollars in damage to Innisfail and the surrounding area. "Very destructive winds" are forecast for an area 500 kms in diameter. Currently it is forecast to strike the city of Cairns.

I'm glad I'm in SE Qld. If I was in the path of this monster, I'd just get out ASAP.

The poor buggers in Qld - one storm after another.
Here's hoping this one dissipates quickly.

Yasi upgraded to Category 5 with wind gusts to 320 km/h. It is now probably a little more intense than Katrina and almost as large. This could be very ugly.

Just been watching some of the evacuation preparations on the morning show.
Yes, you right, it's going to be big, very wet, very very windy and just plain ugly.

Hold tight guys!
