I've been exploring Metastock for weeks now, but still have not finished.

I was wondering, the people that use metastock, what indicators do they use? what expert advisor function do they use? have they got a custom built one?

I'm a day trader but if given a very good indicator for 5 minutes woulg gladly switch.

I would greatly appreciate any comments  :?:

Thanks very much

lol Zambuck :cheesy:

Kwik Pop (I think that's how it's spelt) is a set of proprietary indicators for Metastock and TS.
I think they are fairly expensive - I have no experience using them and have heard mixed reports.
Check www.kwikpop.com

thanks mark_m...that's a relief...I thought this was something gastronomic...

will check out the link

thanks for that

Can follow Moving Average Ribbon. Buy above the bar which is not linked to the ribbon. Put stop at 2nd ribbon. And Vice versa. I found it to be a happy & comfortable indicator till you make your own trading system. It keeps you away from the choppy markets.

I am testing the build in Gil Raff expplorer had to put in my own filter sof volume, price and macd

The ADX /PDI/ MDI gives +ve signals and u should look in to that and test

Recently bought Metastock and definitely agree with ajay about the moving average ribbon. Coupled it together with the relative volatility index and they work a treat. If you use the ribbon to either open a short or long position, with the top or bottom bar crossing the bottom or top respectively, the RVI can act as a useful stop measure with a signal set at beneath 25 or above 75 for a 25 day average.

If you are contemplating 5M then you will need a completely different approach.
You will need a Broker with fast access and an excellent front end linked platform.

Re: my previous post, just tested the FTSE 100 and the two don't work so well together. Though it seems to be pretty good for the S&P 500. May work better for bigger indices.

Actually - look at the CS Hybrid Trade Screen. It was originally developed for currency traders, but works on the basis of a fuzzy logic system which is quite complex, but is used to analyse all sorts of statistics (financial and non-financial). The upshot of it is - it's rather good, and especially so for managing risk (e.g. adding or reducing the position every time a new long or short signal comes up. Have a look and see what I mean.

Indicators

Metastock version 9 has over 100 indicators. It has been my experience over the years using MS that none of them are much good ( on the Dow ). They can look good if optimised but fail miserably on real trades. Consider for a moment what you are trying to do. That is predict the future. Not easy. There are clues from the fundamentals eg a rate rise, but these are also unreliable. Very often the rise has been anticipated. People are likely to take any profit offered which will reverse the direction abruptly.
I used to do a little simple programming. Not much good. Then there are the add-ons for a price. Trade Oracle was pretty useless. Walter Bressert's is half decent, once one takes the trouble to learn what all the wiggly lines mean.
Some people use technical analysis or Elliott waves etc. etc.
Basically I am still looking. So if anyone has even a half good answer please let us know ???

how about Tactical Geometric VectorSystem LT?
i am surprised that 90% of it's trades are accurate

for different types of stocks, what do you think is the best trading expert/indicator on metastock?
i know, somebody will come in and say something like "there is no such thing as the best trading system/indicator, each system/indicator has it's strength and weaknesses!"
so the next question that pops into mind is, which is the best trading expert/indicator for different types of patterns?
- trending stocks
- sideway stocks
- smooth stocks
- choppy stocks

so far, i feel that
Tactical Geometric Vector LT- best for sideways big zig zags
PS StarcBand System - best for rising up breakouts stocks

what about u guys?

here's singtel

Hi hanhao,
I have MS 9 but don't seem to have Tactical G V LT.
The results seem to look good from your pics. Is it an add-on module or something ??
