Anyone here trade outright LIFFE softs, sugar, coffee cocoa? Are any locals market making the cocoa and coffee contracts?

Are most trading arcades doing spreads or are there still lots of outright index futures traders and outright bund traders etc?

If it helps my "boss" bought some coffee puts for March for a few grand which are now valued, on a mark to market basis, at £0. There are locals who trade LIFFE commodities but you should be aware that these markets are controlled by funds... I don't know quite how succesful they are.

And to answer your other question we almost exclusively trade outrights but I am led to believe this is rather rare.

I trade all of that sh*te.
With sugar a lot is vs the NYBOT raws or calendar spreads
For coffee often an arb with Arabicas on NYBOT
Cocoa I do not do much as tend to stick to the Nybot contract and do not try to arb much.

Enough liquidity to get in and out on the screen and plenty of ways to get into deep trouble if you do not understand what is going on.
