Job market may have hit bottom

State and federal officials issued two separate unemployment reports Friday that offered complex but similar signals that the job market has hit bottom and is poised to bounce back.

The state Employment Development Department said that California gained 32,500 jobs in January, only the third time in the past two years that payrolls have risen rather than shrunk.
