Black Swan

You know you need a holiday when you see a temperature chart for Crete and begin to wonder whether that's a macd signal and what MA is plotting the temperature, if only PA was as simple to see..:p

Now this is my first family holiday since being a commited full time trader so some advice needed; should I just continue with the intraday trades (off 4 hour charts) or close everything down for 2 weeks? :)

Close everything down mate, a break is always good (and needed) to recharge the batteries, think of something else, and not let possible bad trades interfer with what should be a great time.

Have a good holiday !

Agree 100% with BSD

Switch off completely.

That means:
- no trading
- no trading reading material
- no internet
- try to avoid TV news except perhaps near the end to ensure flights are ok
- try to avoid English newspapers

Concentrate purely on your family, relaxation, food and drink. Crete is a great place with plenty to see and do.

Remind yourself that this is a gift to yourself and your family because of your trading.

This is the real ultimate reason for doing it.

Just to give everyone a flavour of the non-tourist side of Crete - here's a link to some fabulous scenery

Have a great holiday

Going on Holidays? nice man enjoy ! Spend all that time with your family and I wouldn't bother taking a trade during that period.
How long have you being trading without a holiday? Just Curious!

Happy Holidays Btw.

Yeah - I agree, take a complete break. One exception though, I think it's fine to take a trading related book or two. This is about the only time I get to read books cover to cover. I'm off to Spain soon for a couple of weeks and picking the trading book to take with me is an integral part of our holiday preparations.
Enjoy!
Tim.

Thanks Guys, gonna take the advice and not even peek at a chart for a couple of weeks; havn't been to Crete for 6 years, got a cracking deal, felt like buying just before the Stoch turns in over sold territory as all the prices have gone up since....

How funny is this...unless you're the lad obviously...:D

Woman 'torched Briton's genitals'

A Greek woman accused of setting fire to the genitals of a British tourist in Crete is due to appear in court. The woman admitted assault after dousing the man's private parts in alcohol and igniting them, but says she did so after being sexually harassed. Police on the Greek island say the tourist was drunk and had waved his genitals at several girls before allegedly groping the suspect. The man suffered second degree burns and is recovering in a private clinic. The 26-year-old suspect handed herself over to police, claiming she had acted in self defence.

She has won praise on Crete for what has been seen as defending her honour, the BBC's Malcolm Brabant said.

Little sympathy

According to police the 23-year-old tourist was drunk when he dropped his trousers in a nightclub in the resort of Malia. According to the suspect, who has not been named, she doused him in Sambuca and torched him after she asked him to stop harassing her and he failed to desist. She will be questioned by an investigating magistrate in the city of Iraklion.

The case has been widely discussed on Greek television, and there has been precious little sympathy for the young Briton, said our correspondent. He added that many Greeks are sickened by British bad behaviour in Malia and other resorts.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that in the early hours of Tuesday a 23-year-old British male national was assaulted in Crete.

"We understand he suffered burns on his chest and abdomen.

"He has been receiving consular assistance."

WOWSA !

LOL !

Well, guess he deserved that if he was harrassing her, I mean that's just not done that kinda thing, that's just poooor.

Bit of advice... If you get a quad just remember that no matter how much you have had to drink it will always be impossible to perform a sliding 180 skid at top speed to turn around on a narrow greek tarmac road.

last time i went to crete only the highways and main roads through towns had tarmac, i've not been in a while though last trip was to halkidiki and before that was corfu, going to corfu again this year. very nice island with temps a little lower then some of the other islands.

A timely post....

I'm off to a little island tomorrow and will be staying here:

The beach is approximately 15 seconds walk from here but it looks a bit crowded

Now, it was my intention to pack a laptop & a couple of LCDs for the trip but after seeing this post and what I really know deep down is that I should not take anything with me that will let me trade or even look at the markets.

Thanks for the reality check ! If you see me on this board after today - give me a slap !

Cheers

Pete
