How can you profit from the newswire?
Hi, I've been following this forum for quite a few months now and finally decided to start making a contribution. I've learnt quite a lot from you guys and hopefully I can be of help too.
For today though, I've got a question. I've been following the news wires each morning and over the last few days I've found some serious movers. I'm using the IG index to trade and each time I phone the dealing desk to place an order to open, they just tell me that trading on that share has been temporarily suspended.
I'm assuming this is due to the news which has been released only a few minutes earlier. The problem is that over the course of the day the share goes in my favour and therefore I've missed out big time. How can I spread bet shares based on news stories? At the moment, it seems impossible.
(It's worth noting, I'm trying to place these orders to open before 8am when the market opens)
