How to find a broker.

In the past my bank in the channel islands had the facility for me to make share purchases but now they say the can't because I am a US resident..

Dose anybody have a recommendation for a broker. I don't intend to be an active trader but found this web site when looking for information.

Has anybody a good recommnedation. I am familiar with the US on line brokers but I know nothing about those in the UK.

www.interactivebrokers.com would seem a good choice as you can have a universal account that can be used from a number of different countries.
