Have your SB company ever rewarded you with a freebie?

For example a crate of wine delivered to your door unexpectedly, a day at the races, fly fishing on a chalk stream etc blah blah.

Do they only reward the big losers (or big winners).

IG have always blanked me...my mate got a crate of wine but then again he lost £40,000 with them, so I've a way to go yet. :cheesy:

Just wondering when the perks kick in (if ever).

What have you had & what were you doing to get it?!

Goodness! I hope your friend is okay. If I lost £40,000 and the firm sent me a crate of wine, I think that my death certificate would read "accidental alcohol poisoning". On a a more serious point. Forty Grand. I hope that didn't hurt him too badly. (quick mental check, I think I've lost around £1400 in the last 6 months)

Perks from the SB companies...interesting...I can't see it happening. Because of the way I believe UK SB firms are taxed on hedging, I wouldn't think that they would encourage anyone who was regularly taking 5k a week from them. Mind you, I've seen a few "poster boy" clients posing in dealing rooms next to £100k cheques from the likes of IG, so maybe not.

I think the ultimate perk would be a job offer. City folk talk. If you consistently returned 30% with minimal drawdowns with a moderate account size, I wouldn't be surprised if you were pointed in the right direction.

It did...in short, he didn't have £40k! He was putting it on to credit cards then moving the balance around & betting bigger & bigge (chasing losses) eventually he had nowhere to run.

The worrying thing is I reckon when a lot of folk start getting losses it can consume them & they start doubling/tripling to try & get back on track quickly. It just takes a one sided run like the past 8 weeks (if you're a bear) & it's "GoodnightVienna".

Alas, he earns a bit too much to get it written off (like we hear so often)...so he's now paying it off over 5 years (lost his credit cards etc)

IG Index took me and my team to lunch last December.

I think it was to find out if they could get away slipping us without us going to see them with a baseball bat :)

Cap spreads sent me a bottle of 10 year old Port for xmas.

so in short, IG Index spent about 4 pips on us and cap spreads less than 1 :)
