FXCM Free VPS?

I've seen advertisements for FXCM claiming that their broker offers free Virtual Private Server hosting. My first thought is WTF? They are so confident in traders ability to lose that they offer this? But the fact is, I could use that service. Save me 17 bucks a month.

Has anyone tried this service with them? It's kind of scary having your broker be your VPS though.

The VPS is free as long as you maintain a balance of at least $5,000.

It sounds like you're used to trading with a dealing desk where your loss is the brokers gain. With No Dealing Desk execution, FXCM is not profiting when you lose money, but instead making a pip mark-up off of every transaction (basically a commission). So the more trading you do, the more pip mark-ups you pay. Therefore in FXCM's best interest to have as much up-time as possible for your EA to have trading opportunities.
