It's the facebook generation!

Just tell everybody that you have severe armpit stench and that you never stop farting and belching.

That should put them off.

ah...I meant gay in the way kids of today use the word, as in lame, weak, gash..not in a sexal preference sense. It's a facebook style of things, (this friendship bo11ox), isnt it?

Nope, quality totty would be given the "treat them mean keep them keen" treatment. Well it worked twenty years ago..:(

ah good old facebook, the place where people you went to school with all those years ago but never actually spoke to all of a sudden wanna know everything about you, the nosy *******os!

Good morning young man - I say young because your profile shows you are 4 years younger than me.
Sorry if my friendship request offended you - it was not meant as such. As you will see I am new to all this and was looking to build links with experienced members such as yourself at the outset. Without any trading experience I thought this a good thing to do.
My background is residential property in the UK. In 25 years I built up property portfolios that have now disappeared due to market conditions in 2008 - never experienced in the UK even in 1929. My equity evaporated with a falling market due to overgearing.
In property the more good people you know the more you know - all information you glean be it right or wrong can help you move forward.
Good luck with your trading in the future.

Fair enough if you don't want my friendship... but can we still have bum sex later?

This is a poor brag attempt at how popular you are. I'm sending you a friend request when I figure out how.

This is probably not a good idea.

Most information available on trading is random noise, or worse, deliberately misleading. In my experience, the more popular and firmly believed an idea is; the less reliable it is.

You are better off doing your own research.

Thanks for that - appreciate the advice

How does one decipher what is random and whatever the opposite of random is?

I guess if it is quiet (as opposed to noise) who and how will anyone know?

You little riddler or big joker? :cheesy:

"All through time, people have basically acted and reacted the same way in the market as a result of: greed, fear, ignorance and hope. That is why the numerical formations and patterns recur on a constant basis" - Jesse Livermore

Easy to say if you made $100m out of the 1929 crash but hard if you are just starting out and suffer from all the above!!!

What I was trying to say is that there is a seething mass of strongly-held beliefs being expressed all over forums that have no basis in solid evidence or thoroughly-tested personal experience.

People hear something that they think sounds reasonable and choose to adopt it as a belief. From that moment on it becomes 'fact' to them and they will argue aggressively with anybody who contradicts it. You can see how much confusion abounds from all the popular maxims that contradict one another.

I think a lot of the time, the ideas are sound but picked up out of context. For instance, many of the best practices for successful scalping may be the opposite of those needed for long-term trend following.

Also, being slightly cynical, I'm sure there are some who deliberately mislead because they believe it to be to their advantage; "making a market".

You are generating a lot of noise and holding on too tight... :cheesy:

Err sorry Vorbis just winding you up. It is the weekend and I do like your posts. (y)

Quite right what you say - and having said that I have learnt more on these threads from my esteemed learned friends than any book or body. Shame some of them no longer here or got banned... :(

After couple of years you learn to recognise the sparkling gems apart from the riff raff.

But riff raff can be good entertainment too... :p

All the best - have a great weekend...
