Five-stocks limit abandoned?

When there are 5 stocks already in my competition portfolio, I get a message telling me I can't buy without selling something. How come some players (on today's trades alone for example)are able to hold a dozen or more stocks?

There must be a bug whereby if you places 5 or more orders at once it allows you to do this, or perhaps if you do this when the market is closed.

I'll need to investigate, but the 5 stock limit has definitely not been abandonded.
