Dear Journal

Have 3 accounts set up and running, but not fully working.

All new brokers and platforms for me.

Think I may change one account in the next 12 months.

But very early days.

All swing no scalp at the moment.

Iress System

Not liking the iress system.
It's a first in first out trade system.
Can not place orders on the charts.
Hard to work out where you opened the orders. and what or is the average entry price.
Just using for Forex swing at the moment.

Used it about 15 years ago on AUS and UK share CFD trades and loved it.
Great market depth and its own style of market profile.
Good platform for trading without charts.

My trading has changed since then, with FX and index trading on charts only.
Maybe you have let thing go in the past.

Will stick with the iress system for the moment and may look at share CFD's, but not sure if I have the time.

Saxo Platform

Got to say I like its.
Very simple to use and suits my current needs.
Place orders over the weekend and then adjust or add each day if needed.
Doing on the charts allows this to be done very quickly.
So just check current prices and adjust, all done in 10 mins.
Have also done a re-draw, no problem done in under 24 hours

Not done any scalping yet where I can do 10 to 20 plus orders in a session.
That will be a different test, would also need to look more at the spread or costs.
They offer futures but not looked into at this stage only using CFD.

Mental Note

Just wanted to make a note of trade size when I first started

ASX - 1 or 2 dollar's forget now
FTSE - 1 pound
DAX - 1 Euro
DOW - 1 USD
SP - 2 USD

Forex
5,000 USD
10,000 JPY
10,000 CAD

Trade size changed now from the start will be write more later on.
Changing size and reasons should play a big part moving forward.

Done for now.

******* ****in Markets

TV ad break DAX is nice 10 point range for 20 mins.
Let get a few points here then.
******* breaks the range the wrong bloody way.
Wife call out for a cup of tea, green line is getting longer(sweat)
It's all happening, get me out of please, never do this again, promise.
15 min later back to break even and back to Silent Witness, missed 15 mins.
Check the market 40 mins later after the show and trade would have been 50 points in my way.
Always tomorrow.

******* ****in Markets

The old notes - worthless crap or sticks in the back of the mind

Should add this from Friday.
Took about 3 points at the futures have been 10.
Short from open futures 10517 look to cover at 10504 area.
It done that at the get go greed kicked in wanted more ended up with 3 points.
I caught a couple of 30 to 40 points moves in the mid week.
Even i knew they were just not there in these trades. smack

Plan same trade at the open, done the same as above had tp at 10504 hit 10505, did not cover.
Watched it go offside and took profit about 50 mins later at 10505.
Also add planed to short at 10527, but did not take because had not closed to 10517 trade.
So wasted 30 to 40 points in the first hour and ended up with just 15.
Bit soul and mind destroying this game.
With the early trade screw up lost focus on the NFP and US close.
What should have been a great day ended up being poor to average.

From Scalp to Swing

Finding this move very hard.
Scalp trading seemed a lot easier.
And tempted to jump ship again, but work will stop this move back at the moment.
Only 2 months into swing for the first time so need to keep working at this and review more after 12 months.
Then decide if it's worth staying with.

Bit like breaking the sub 4 min mile, it's a mile off.
My 400 and 800 times give me hope, but still going to need another 2 years to crack the mile time.

Good weekend all
Oscar

Dear Liz

Markets stuck in a range for months on end.
Trading is like going to the atm machine and hitting collect.

Than the markets break that range like a ferret on a wheel.
I’m left behind, my bull trades have turned bear.

What do I do I hunt for bull news, go to Trade 2 Win and Forex Factory and cling for any bull post, nothing.

Put on Liz Claman on Fox Business news.
Clinging to every bull word she say’s
And staring like a school boy looking at the female school teacher in that way for the first time.

But no Bull
Oh Liz what should I do.

Day in the Sand

Do you mark those days.
Do they remain in the calendar and the back of the mind.
Or is it just so what and move on.

Today was a day in the sand.
And I think why.
It's just another training day for me.

Reporting

Coming up to month.
Looking at reporting for the month.
Thinking about changing to a weekly report system.

Just a message and reminder for myself and something to think about in September.

Also might separate the two accounts into reporting, one weekly and one monthly.
One account is more active than the other.

August

End of month reflection point, got caught on the down move with a couple of DOW buy’s.
Managed a late short SP500 hedge and managed to go in and out a few times which repaired some of the damage.
Saxo platform would have looked a lot better mid month.
Also found out that the platform will open a position in the opposite direction, very strange but getting used to it a bit or not.
Iress is a mess and struggling with the platform, first in first out not helping my cause.
Only second month into this style/type of trading and cannot expect to hit it straight away.
Just keep plodding along.

Saxo Statement

My statement for start of FY2016
Not sure how to get it from the iress system, will have to phone them next week and find out.
Never look back at statements.
Just at current open orders and positions and check the balance each day.
Maybe I should do more with the stats.

Fitbit Badge

Got a fitbit watch at the weekend.

Looks like it will be good for collecting data over a period of time.

Iress System Statement

With the iress trading system there is no way to bring up your history of trades.
They send me an e-mail each day with the history of the last 24 hours, after that it's gone.
Will put up a screen print over the weekend to back up the spreadsheet data.
Have now just started to do AUS shares on the iress system which it is designed for, not FX markets.
My timing is out at the moment, but hope to improve going forward.
Should be able to take 2 to 4 trades per week on the iress platform.
With 1 to 5 day holds on the AUS shares.
The account is a mess at the moment, but time and performance will improve it.
Using FP markets for the iress system.

Trading is different on the SAXO platform.
