Financial Trader as a Career

Hi Guys,


Just wanna ask for your opinion here to decide whether I should continue pursuing trading as a career.

I'm 31 yrs old, working 6 yrs alrdy in a manufacturing plant as an engineer. Looking to switch to trading. My qualification as follow:

1. B. Eng (Electrical Eng) 2 lower class honours
2. Master of Science (statistics)
3. CFA level 2 candidate jun 2011

Is there any better qualification that I should have to have a better chance to stand out from the rest?

Is my undergraduate degree really spoil my chance of becoming a trader?

Is research analyst easier to get in compared to a trader position?

you don't need to trade for a firm to be a trader just get a computer set up with a broker and a plaform and you're good to go

Enragedcow is spot on. Get yourself a track record then you may have a chance, who cares about your qualifications? Trading companies will not when it comes down to it.

I agree with the views expressed by those above.

Your current qualifications will not amount to much on their own, but a solid track record trading will not only demonstrate your interest in the markets, it will also show whether you can trade, or not.

I think it is good to have the job like trader, you don't need to have anything , you only need to have a computer and internet, you can work whatever you want and different places of the world, I am trying to be like free trader, but now i can't to have only one trading job, because it is not enough for me, may be after couple of years when i will have a lot of money in my bank account
Do we have here peolpe who have only one job - trading? Give the feedbacks, "+" and "-" of it?

most people who trade for a firm do more sales/admin than trading.
They are also mostly s h i t heads
