Traders Log. Chinos Date 2nd Feb 2004

Well guys, rather than clutter up the message boards with posting my trades, i thought i would be better off setting up one of these journal thangs as it is easier to see what is what.

I will be mainly posting my EOD FTSE trades, and also my daily DOW trades which i started posting on the Trading Strategies Board. These may well be abandoned after my trial run ends this friday, performance pending!

My FTSE trades are based upon a value strategy, with my own "tip top secret home-grown unlagging 'indicator' " hopefully telling me what is overbought/oversold. As things stand, we could be looking at an EOD LONG today if we dont break yesterday's high of 4436, but i will keep this updated as long as i can!

Ok back to basics

Gone long on March futures @4365


close to be advised later.. probably in 3-4 days time.

still in on the Long

futures current 4373, so looking good so far. (+8)

basically, having closed at the high of today, if we have another up day tmr, then i will be shorting at the close. fingers crossed as i could do with banking some profits after a nasty 3 days with the Dow Experiments (TM)

remember, whatever trading plan you have, STICK TO IT!!!!

curses Cisco!!

Hmm, well not great overnight performance on the DOW after Cisco's little wobble after the close means we have gapped down on the FTSE a fair bit. Am still in my long, and will only stop and reverse when i get a counter signal. Currently the only way we will get a counter signal is if the FTSE makes a daily high in excess of 4420, which is currently some 40 points away. Dont think it is too likely, so it looks like trade will roll over into thursday!

hmmm!

futures 4379 so +14 unrealised profit so far..

came close to triggering a short, and judging by the head-and-shoulders forming on the cash, that may have been the best plan.

BUT im sticking to the system through thick and thick lol..


who knows what is gonna happen tmr, but 4389 remains a key point for my plan!!! ;-)

not as bad as i feared

hmm, the ovenight positions looked a bit shaky, but at least we appear to have opened the "right" side of 4389. it has been tested and offered support once, so i remain moderately bullish for today.

longer term im getting a bit wary, and could really do with a high of 4428 or greater in order to get my fetteredshort on in time for the US economic data tmr. a bit like the old days, no matter the state of the news, the market wants to sell off. is this the start of the Big Decline (TM) that has been coiling up for the lastfew months?

hmm, end of day again. awful range anticipating the economic news from the US tomorrow.


still in that long from monday/tuesday. though currently at -6 so far.

tomorrows key level is 4391. could do with some impressive overnight work by the US methinks.

madness

well it all seemed to go off on the DOW today.. 100 pt reversal in a matter of minutes, then a bit of a retrace and the FTSE cowered back in its shell


position still stands - futures 4376, so +11 for the week.

not good, as i normally average in the 30's. Still, the DOW may follow through tonight and test 10600 and beyond. then again it may not.

holding my long over the weekend, more updates next week

closed and reversed with a sell at 4402. so thats a 37 point profit dans le sac.

lets see how this week pans out. looking good so far :)

a quickie

bizarre day on the markets today. all over the shop

closed my short at 4370 (futures) for +32

not a bad performance. two wins from two so far.

am currently long from 4370 (+1 at the moment FWIW)

could do with a few more wins to start increasing stake size!

still going

been away for a while, but the long from last week still stands.

as i speak, the futures stand at 4391, so looking good at +21 for this trade.

been a bit busy the past few days trying to figure out a new method based on Gann's Square of Nine after doing some reading on the subject.

mindblowing isnt the word!

top stuff. closed my long today at 4430 for +60

entered a short at 4329 too. so lets see how this one pans out.

nice sell off on the DOW means i should be able to sleep safely now lol. didnt like the idea of being on the wrong end of a mega loss.

option expiration should make things a bit jumpy tomorrow too. with any luck the DOW will jump off that cliff :)

well, got a signal to go long..


so stopped and reversed at a loss :( for -47

bought @ 4476 (mar futures)

so state of play : - 4 trades, 3 wins, total points 82 :)
 
and another one bites the dust!

stopped and reversed. now short from 4495 on march futures. not a great entry as i could have got 4500 had i waited a while, which is another 10 points gone begging. curses.

I take it this is your ftse system ,i made it the ave hi lo diff yesterday of only 18 points so i thought the position stays the same or have i got it wrong .
 
kind of PMAA, it isnt quite as i published elsewhere on the board. i have tweaked the entries a bit. and im afraid it will stay secret until i come up with an even better strat lol
