New to the game and my stop loss on shorting the Dow was hit through last night at 10,903. I'd checked last night and it was 10,849 and this morning 10,870 so am presuming it spiked late last night even though in trading through the Dow's actual opening hours it hasn't been much past 10,860.
How are the prices 'set' during the night?

The cash dow high was roughly 10911/12, it is worked out in relation the the underlying market, which in this case is the YM. The prices are related to the overnight globex session.

The market did trade through your stop, and that has been the high for the last 18 hours.
