Hi,

Has anyone heard anything about china re-valuing there currency to help devalue the dollar?

After many years of being the subject of intimate dinnertime gossip, China was at last given a place at the exclusive Group of Seven table last Friday. Notwithstanding recognition of the country’s increasing importance in the global economy implied by the invitation, China certainly didn’t act like an eager guest overanxious to please its hosts, who were particularly keen to see a faster pace of revaluing the renminbi. In fact, the “guest” was rather ungracious: it warned US policy makers not to push too hard for an imminent revaluation, in effect telling Mr Snow to be careful what he wished for.

China have stated quite clearly that they will review their options when it suits them. In other words ' do not hold your breathe'.

Why would they want to give up their competitive advantage by floating the currency? Why would they want to give the members of trade2win a free lunch and a licence to print money? Sorry chaps, this one will run and run (it was dead before it started).
