I have a couple of questions. The first one being that I am very new to daytrading and I am looking for software. I am in the process of doing the free trial versions and I would love some input. Please don"t laugh at this question. When I was applying, it asked if I wanted to apply for an equity trader account or a commodity trader account. Anyone know the difference and/or which one I should apply for? Does anyone also know of any software that is under $100 a month? Thanks so much in advance everyone.

Hi efh1210,
Welcome to T2W.
Equities refers to stocks and shares , e.g. Barclays - an equity in the UK banking sector, or Google - an equity in the U.S. technology sector etc. Commodities is a catchall term to cover the different categories of futures markets. Both terms are explained in this FAQ: What Should I Trade?

With respect, you've got a lot of ground to cover before starting to think about software for day trading - or any other trading come to that. I suggest you start at the beginning - and the place to do that is by clicking on the 2nd link in my signature. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread etc!
;)

Thanks so much for your reply and I totally agree. I am working on that. I am actually reading a book and I will tell you about the method that I think I am going to use later when I get it mapped out. Again, I really appreciate your time for answering my question.

Thats a good way to look at learning to trade. Take your time and learn one concept on trading at a time.

Here is a cool video that I have created on system building. I hope that it will be a small help to you along your journey of learning this business.

Cheers

Is this a proprietary system?

Perhaps you can use some free software with live feed to learn to trade before you commit to software expense...

You can use a forex demo account which is free for a long time and learn quite a bit before deciding on a market to trade.

Often a broker will provide a free software and feed once you open a live account.

Software may be a low priority on your list for now as there are some excellent free ones available

I agree. You can get a demo account for just about any platform/software out there. The Platform I use can be found at:

www.InfinityFutures.com

The demo account lasts for 30 days and includes free charts.

I would try www.metatrader.com which is probably the most well known FOREX trading platform available. It's free, lots of brokers use it, and there is a massive online community around it, including on this forum.
