Constantly downloading things

For my sins I use IE7 at work, and on most forum pages it's constantly downloading something (i.e. the swirling thing is swirling). Any ideas?

I've been plagued a little by the dreaded swirly, my ISP has serious issues, slow and lots of intermittent downtime today, perhaps your work connection may be a bit iffy, I don't know other than that.

You can't switch to Firefox?

That swirling thingy might mean you need to do some Windows Updates - worked for me.
