Coding your own indicators or EA

Hello all, If this is in the wrong forum or is a duplicate of information discussed earlier, I am sorry. I have been searching through the forums and could not find the information I am looking for. I am looking for a book or web site that has instructions for writing code for an indicator or Expert Advisor. I have been writing code for some time and in a couple of different languages (COBOL, FORTRAN, C++, Visual Basic, ect), yes I have used punch cards to enter code into a computer! So I do know the process of writing code, I just need some instruction on the specifics of Meta Trader. Specifically I am looking at candles and trying to get the pip spread of a candle at a given time frame. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
