With Vix making record lows again today and news that a Fidelity Star has taken out a 3 month put on the UK market........ Perhaps it's time to consider how to make a fortune from the next wipeout.

It's probably easier to "plan" now when markets are going up rather than trying to do this in the midst of a financial tsunami!

If you wanted to make a fortune out of the next Crash - What would your gameplan consist of ?
How would you be preparing ....right now ?

Idea #1 - Sexy...... Vhi PE stox get crushed........ which ones are making new highs?
Idea #2 - Volatility Futures are getting cheaper day by day.......is there an opportunity brewing ?

Any more ideas ?

.... the 1987 crash will never be repeated again. ever

How can you know that for sure.?

All sorts of things can happen - ie what would you have said before Sept 11th if sombody suggested airliners would destroy the world trade centres? (no conspiracy theories please).

people learn. they won't commit the same mistake. If there's any crash, the USD is prob the first.

On the subject of The Next Crash.... I agree with laptop/ian ... it can quite easily be as bad as 1987 and will probably be worse... much worse.

Thank G-d for the internet ............... the "bosses" like to play this game from time to time ... they have so much fun it's unlikely they'll ever give it up .....

Recently Thailand have been playing little games ........... possibly a "test" who knows...

We don't know when the next one will be ......but we can prepare....... will the next 10% slide be the start ? Who knows ? But a Biggie is (imo) in the works! As old Saddam used to say .... The mother of all ....
Lets just hope the system will still work... so shorts can be closed and puts settled!!!!!

Maybe it'll be the dollar Bonox ........... time will tell

1987 Crash, 1997 Asian meltdown, 2007 ???? not scientific but who knows...

what has happened in the past will happen again, and again and again. This is because human nature does not change, and it is human emotion that always gets in the way of human intelligence..
Also"Wall Street never changes; the pockets change, the suckers change, the stocks change, but Wall Street never changes because human nature never changes" (J Livermore) and finally..

History will always repeat itself, and more so when a generations direct experiences are no longer with us. Once the people with the experience have gone, a new generation will make the same mistakes again. IMO

If you believe that a "crash " will never happen again then you are betting against human nature. It may not be the same instrument, market, country..but IT WILL HAPPEN!

hook,if you go back and look at that chart it made 3 steps or a staircase and dropped to the bottom of the first step,i can remember the nikkie ran up 3 steps and i expected the same result and instead it made a fourth step, rather than fall back to bottom of first step it blew thru it.......97-2003 s&p,4 step up and back to bottom of first step but much more orderly than 87 and i think the nikkie was 89

Booms and clashes are guaranteed as day and night. Not matter what they will always happen. Is just a cycle.

Phenomenal twin deficits
Dangerous bully boy talk to creditors
Multi-trillion dollar 'war on terror'
Protectionist economic behavior at unprecedented levels
Disregard for WTO, UN (John Bolton?!?!), international opinion.
Cultural ignorance / 'we are free and we are right' attitude
Religious fanaticism
Oil addiction
Bombing the oil producers
Almost the highest taxes in the world
Disproportionately heavy handed prosecutors on 'witch hunt' for entrepreneurs
The SEC / NFA / CFTC etc etc... stifling regulation
Lawsuit culture, cost of defence, wide net of subpoenas
Hackable legal processes, no checks and balances - reference UIGEA
Increasingly aggressive anti-immigration stance

I love NYC for long weekend breaks and the Americans are usually very nice, friendly and polite. This dichotomy between the people I meet and the policies is unfortunate but can only lead to one eventual conclusion. I do not forecast a near term crash, things take time, rather I think that a long, painful decline will start some time in the next few years and continue for decades.

Sorry America, you had it too good and you F@%$ed it up.

Just my 2c,

NQR
