If you want to trade in a particular way and are moving brokers, check in detail that the facilities are there by asking very specific questions. Do not assume that because the brokerage has a big name that they are capable of supporting anything other than the most basic trades.
For example (and to my cost):
BARCLAYS
If you want to trade ETFs and see intraday price charts, or want to use Stop and Limit orders on ETFs or shares not priced in GBX, then Barclays stockbrokers is not for you at present, though I understand that they have plans to add at least some of this functionality in 2010.
