assistant trader roles

hi

just wanted to know where I can find out more about trainee/ assistant trader roles in the UK and what these employees look for...FX is my main area of interest.

How hard is it to get an assistant trader role with no experience?

my backround is in economics and statistics, since graduating I've been working as a junior actuarial analyst, however the more I learn about technical analysis the more I want to pursue a career as a trader for a bank or investment management firm.

unfortunately no grad schemes in NZ for Sales and Trading, only corporate finance.

Thats why I'm thinking of trying my luck in the UK....surely there must be some role out there that can be used as a stepping stone to a trader role?...any areas that use technical analysis and prefarably FX I'd like to know more about.
