Hi
Just sharing some research I completed recently.
The amount of commission you pay per click of the mouse is generally dictated by 2 things:
(i) your account size
(ii) your monthly trading volume
See attached tables from a leading ECN.
So commission start at $35 per million - which equates to 0.35 pips every time you click the mouse. This is for the smallest account with small volume.
To get the commission down to $15 per million - which equates to 0.15 pips every time you click the mouse you need to either have an account size of $500k or complete 500m of trades (half a yard) per month.
For scalpers who may have 20 trades per day = 100 trades per week = 400 trades per month they can generate a large volume. eg. A scalper trading a 3 lot (300k) of currency will have monthly volume of around 120m giving a commission rate of $18 per million.
