I started out my trading career by doing one of the cleverly marketed stock courses that promise you’ll make £4000 per month from a £500 account within 3 month starting out! I fell for it. However I don’t look back in anger as I learned a lot about how not to do it! I also don’t blame myself for falling for the ‘get rich quick’ scheme as been human has its limitations!
I then studied under a NYSE pit trader who taught me all there is to know about intra-day trading US stocks. I quickly realised that US stocks didn’t suit my personality as I found the strategies to be rather random in nature. I flitted from market to market losing money here and losing it there. It was a time of frustration and self doubt.
That’s when I stumbled across the YM and ES futures markets. The technical nature of these markets suited my engineering background. My rules are simple and my rigorous daily debriefing ensures that they are adhered to! Well, that and the fact that my wife also knows how to trade and she helps me with my reviews so I can’t pull the wool over her eyes!
I continually strive to improve myself by reading books, working with performance coaches as well as doing courses on technical analysis. Becoming a great trader is a process, a journey, and every step of the way is necessary to reach the final destination.
