Hi everyone. I am looking for a charting package (free is possible) that has Fibonnaci. Now I must add that I have Fibonnaci on my current charting package through a Spread Betting company, but it doesn't have the 138 and 162 extentions. Could anyone enlighten me? Many thanks.

Hi bennie83, perhaps it would help members answer your question if you state which sb you are currently use.

If your sb has an advanced version of say an ITFinance product, you can add in your own levels by right clicking on the fib and configuring yourself.

I've just done it myself, I changed the 50% level to 52% :)

I can't post screener cos I have IG running on a vanilla xp pc with no other software loaded, have a play with it, in the meantime I'll load up etx on this pc and try taking a screener from that.

ok, here's a 48% fib level and another pic of your 138% level added.

any luck with it yourself yet?

does anyone use cgq? CQG Technical Analysis it appears it has some auto fib stuff in it? can anyone vouch for that?

im going to ask for a trial from them because i have seen 2 different well known technical analysts compile reports with hourly and daily fibs off it which seems very helpful for the day ahead!!

ff

i am not affiliated with cgq in anyway.

Ah yes, I've worked out how to do this with IG (on Real Time charts). However, IG are going to charge £30 per month for this charting package from June so I wanted to try and find another programme.

Isn't CQG very very expensive? Not quite sure if its worth the price myself, but perhaps it could be helpful to you.

Advanced charts from IG also have fibs and extensions, and they are Free still.

edit: sorry, Lightning already mentioned that... Just note Bennie, that IG has 3 types of charting package - Quick charts, Advanced charts, and Real-Time charts.

With IG you have quick chart (free & has Fibs, but you can't edit numbers - i.e. doesn't have projection figures of 132 and 162) & realtime chart (which won't be free from June, but you can edit). Where would the advanced chart be? Cheers

Where you access Quick charts, from the down arrow, next to each security, if that makes sense? Advanced chart is just below Quck charts.

Shout if you're stuck, and I'll post a screenie.

Thanks so much Geofract I've found advanced charts, I completely missed that. Great, I'll try and play around with the Elliot Wave theory etc. Do you think we could apply Fibs / Elliot Wave to the current FTSE chart?

P.s. Geofract, sorry to ask another thing, but how do you change an advanced chart from line to candlestcik/bar?

I read that if you are accessing the Real Time charts now (May) you will be charged in June for this unless you make a couple of trades in May, , I am a little confused now as to whether I have already paid for May, and june being a seperate issue, as it should be, as the little bit of cash of around 30 quid that was in there has now gone :-0 but my real time chart access is turned off! bloody thieves!

again confused on this point as well, the email states that only the quick charts will remain free :?: obveously I can still see the advanced charts so...

And finally, you can continue to access our more basic charting tool, Quick charts, for free, whether or not you subscribe to Real-time charts or place any bets.

NP Bennie

I guess you're mentioning Elliot Wave Theory as you read my post on the WS thread? After initially having been quite keen on Elliot Wave counts (and I do subscribe to the theory), I soon found they are very difficult to count in realtime. This means it's difficult to know which part of the wave count you're in at any given time... e.g. are we in wave 1,2,3,4,5,A,B,C... so I have found it is best to look for an impulse wave (wave 1) I think it would appear after a reversal, preferably breaking out from a channel in the opposite direction, and then try to get on to the third wave, which in principle is buying dips. See my post on WS's thread to clarify.

Probably best to post questions on WS's thread regarding my elliot posts - I don't want to de-rail this thread.

Cheers.

I think the idea is, that you pay £30 upfront each month, and its re-funded to your account after 2 bets are filled. So you have paid for May lightning, and will get refunded on 2 bet fills. They should have turned on your charts now though Lightning, cheeky wotsits!

No doubt they will cut off Advanced charts in time, if no one's prepared to pay for real-time charts.
