Leovirgo's journal thread on building an automated trading engine. It illustrates the steps and thought processes involved in transferring a strategy from a discretionary one to fully mechanised. In addition it draws attention to topics such as VWAP that a novice might not come across.

New to the board, but been trading for 14 + years...Still losing. Everyone that was supposed to be teaching me turned out to be a scam. 25k+ in bogus software. I really want to learn how to trade. This is my last shot, I think I'll become a bathroom attendant if this doesn't work out.

Actually, after fourteen years I'd give up.

Meant in the nicest possible way. But you have to cut your losses at some point.
