hi all

although many of u might say uk stocks rarely move, i am an active trader in UK stocks in the last 8 years (and still learning from other traders and my own mistakes). in order to generate more interest in our market, i would like to start a thread where u and me can discuss the stocks we are trading during the day, week or month.

at the moment i am long in blt, rbs, and itv, but short in hbos, ici, rtr, nrk, and i will let u know once i exit any of these positions or enter into new positions. i hope u would do the same too to show what stocks ur in or out intraday or week or month.

pls dont be shy to share with us, it does not matter if u were right or wrong in choosing the stocks we are here to generate interest and lets share ur ideas. also it does not matter u are a real trader of just a demo trader pls join in.

cheers

hi
i intraday trade ftse 100s on sets as cfds & sometimes swing trade them - hold for 3/4 days - depends on expectation of move.
tend to day trade in size according to liquidity of stock and volatility e.g-

barc 10,000/15,000 would trade for 2 or 3p turn
azn 5,000 for 5p turn

trade from 5 to 15 round trips per day and have been doing so since 2000.

today only shorts - aal, av and azn so far - all but av closed out

a lot of ppl are viewing but not posting, if u dont want to post ur trades, i guess its becos u dont want ur ego to take over, its fine, u can always pm me instead. its good to exchange ideas.

my shorts are going well (for the moment anyway) wonder if anyone on the same boat? ici, rtr, hbos and rr.

happy to try and help this board along. I am an active trader / investor which fits alongside my job an a broker / investment manager. i look in here a couple of times a day so will contribute where i can. it might be useful, khi, for you to explain your methodology as this may encourage interest and comments from others.

hi
market slow as usual after 11am so waiting for US open - will look for some follow through/continuation of mornings moves
good call on your shorts - u trading on SETs?
looking to short SVT this pm

thanks ed crane, ur views and contribution will be appreciated.

i use simple avg. 14 and 50 days and also slow stocahstics. jsut wanna keep everything simple to look at. as learn from experience, i am very strict with my stop loss.

my trading can vary from day trade by scalping on sets order book to swing trade based on chart formation and breakouts. this month has been a good month to me with miners a few other stuff.

are u a TA guy or fundamental?

well spotted ws111, svt seems to have a floor at 990 on my 50 days, see if that will get kicked thru.

I'm a bit more sedate than you in timescale ;)

short: azn,cbry
long: sab, bt, wmh (like you, stopped out of ulvr)

looking at: glh, stan and rio on the long side of which rio looks the most interesting and where the rest of today's action will be particularly interesting - as will market direction. The grey support line and fib62% of the last up move are reasonably co-incident. rio is hovering around that support atm (having dipped below it and bounced back earlier) and where it closes will be informative and may provide a possible entry signal for me on Monday.

good trading

jon
